::City Hall Palace - built in 1882 in Neo-Renaissance style on the place of the Gothic Great Council Palace from the 14th c. and the old harbour arsenals (the Great Council having been the supreme legislative body of the Republic of Ragusa/Dubrovnik). The old palace was destroyed in a fire in 1816. It was possible to enter into the Great Council Palace from the Rector's Palace through an internal doorway above which is an inscription, preserved to the present day, that reads "OBLITI PRIVATORUM PUBLICA CURATE" ("Forget private affairs, deal with state affairs"). The new City Hall building today is the administrative centre of Dubrovnik (Dubrovnik City Council, Mayor's office, City administrative departments; while a seat of the administration of Dubrovnik-Neretva County is in the nearby Ranjina Palace). Even it is known as "City Hall Palace", a part of this building are also the Dubrovnik Marin Držić Theatre (Gradsko kazalište Marina Držića) and the Gradska kavana ("City Coffeehouse").
